For me and for Sober Mojo, Black Lives Matter.
What does this mean?
I see the murders of black people by police officers who go unpunished. I see the connection from slavery to mass incarceration. I see the inequity in the systems of housing, education, hiring, banking, and healthcare. I recognise my privilege. I listen to and learn from black voices. I continue to educate myself about my place in the system, and I pay black educators for that education.
I’m grateful for all those who are teaching me, who are protesting the injustices, who are willing to have the hard conversations around the dinner table.
